Rock Climbing
Footwork,
body position and balance are more important than strength in rock
climbing. Learn the techniques necessary to scale the most
improbable looking faces or smooth featureless slabs. I will show
you the rope work necessary to make climbing safe, then we will
concentrate on movement skills. |

You will
start on short easy climbs close to the ground. As you gain skill
and confidence we can graduate to longer, more difficult climbs. If
you have already taken a course or climbed in a gym, I can show you
how to transfer these skills to longer, harder climbs. Learn how to
be faster and more efficient on longer climbs without compromising
safety. |
The
Canadian Rockies
has an abundance of moderate rock climbs that take you to the summit
of a jagged peak. Good route finding and efficient rope work will be
the most important elements to these summits. Difficult looking
summits are often just a matter of link together easy pitches. I can
guide you to the summit of a soaring rock spire that can only be
reached by rock climbing.
Rock climbing has taken me to the far corners of the world. Let me
take you to some of my favorite spots; quartzite cliffs in the
Australian Outback, soaring limestone towers on the beaches of
Thailand, the clean granite walls of Yosemite or the striking arêtes
of the Dolomites in northern Italy. |
